Nelda was born in Duran, New Mexico, to William E. Roberts and Cleo Dalton Roberts. She was the fifth of seven children.

Her early years were shaped by both joyful memories and significant challenges. Because her father worked for the railroad, the family often lived in boxcars stationed at remote train stops throughout New Mexico and Arizona. These unique circumstances created a childhood full of adventure, resilience, and close‑knit family bonds.

In 1950, the Roberts family moved to California, eventually settling in the Wasco Labor Camp, where Nelda began the next chapter of her life.

After graduating from Wasco High, Nelda met and married Jack Oliver. They had two sons, Gene and Kenny, who were the light of her life. Although that marriage eventually came to an end, her devotion to her sons never wavered.

A new chapter began when she met and married Bob Taylor, and together they raised their blended families. Nelda embraced Connie, Steve, and Pam, loving and caring for them as part of her own family. After many years, this marriage also came to an end.

Years later, she met and married Glenn Dial. Though their children were grown, Nelda warmly welcomed Glenn’s family into her life. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing.

Nelda’s work career included farm fields, Ted’s Bakery, Hahn’s Optometry, Bob’s Dairy Delivery, Wasco High School librarian, and Production Accountant for Mobil Oil. Throughout her work, she developed wonderful, lifelong, friendships and influenced countless lives through her kindness and compassion.

She was also part of a group of extraordinary Wasco parents who never missed a game and were amazing cheerleaders for their sons and their teams.

Nelda’s hobbies included bowling, horseback riding, camping, fishing, relaxing at the beach, and never passing up an opportunity for a trip to the casino.

Her passion was family, and she loved her time with them. Nothing brought a brighter smile to her face than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and the generations that followed. She adored every one of them, and they knew without question how deeply they were loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Glenn, her parents, six siblings, her sons Gene and Steve, daughter‑in‑law Sandy, son‑in‑law Denton, and three cherished grandchildren.

Special thanks to her amazing friend and caregiver Liseth, and to Joel, Loretta, Dora, and Marilyn (Joyful Living Care Home) for your unwavering love and care. She loved you all. We would also like to thank Hoffman Hospice.
