Visitation is scheduled Wednesday, November 1, 2006, from 3-9 PM, at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, Bakersfield with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 2, 2006, at 10 AM, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Interment immediately following at Union Cemetery. Father Ricardo Magdaleno will officiate. Nancy Rachel Bowman was born September 20, 1933, in Bakersfield, California, where she attended local schools and graduated from Kern County High School. She met and married the man of her heart, Roger Everett Bowman on September 16, 1956, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nancy's and Roger's love and devotion for each other spanned 50 years. Nancy spent the majority of her life doing what brought her the greatest fulfillment and enjoyment, which was being a homemaker. She worked a few years outside her home as a dietitian at Mercy Hospital, a case worker for the school district, as well as, owned and operated a flower shop. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Nancy felt content working in her garden and being outdoors. Nancy also enjoyed music and dancing. She was a strong willed, but generous woman who had many friends and will be greatly missed. Nancy is preceded in death by her three brothers, Randy, Kino and Robert; four sisters, Rosie, Lucy, Delia, and Cruzita and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband, Roger; daughter, Linda, and son-in-law, Robert Avila and grandchildren, Andrea and Tammy, as well as her beloved cockatiel, Geronimo.
