Mona Sue Pressley, age 50 of Shafter, passed away Monday morning, February 15, 2010 in Bakersfield; leaving behind her loved ones and many memories. She was born in Bakersfield to Lenora (Holman) and Lenord Maynard on May 14, 1959; attended local schools and graduated from Shafter High School in 1977. Mona was a committed mother, wife and hard worker with a strong Christian faith and an active member of Shafter Free Will Baptist Church; leading 3-5 grade girls in Sunday school; helping out wherever needed and giving special attention to the ministry near and dear to her heart, Reformers Unanimous. Married Glenn in April of 2000 in Bakersfield and together they served the Lord. She often took day trips with her sisters, and was well known at "The Red Wagon" for breakfast with Teresa; loved spending time with both church and immediate family. Mona had a love for Dooney & Bourke purses, porcelain dolls and sand in her shoes from the many times at Pismo Beach. She was preceded in death by her father Lenord (1992) and survived by her loving husband Glenn, of nearly 10 years; sons Cullen Brent Pressley, Joshua Glenn Pressley, daughters Amy Rachel and husband Paul Romero, Heather Reyne and husband Roberto Pena Jr, Cassie Dawn and husband Rudy Martinez; daughter Candice Fay Pressley; mother Lenora May Maynard; brother Michael Maynard and wife Erin; sisters Teresa and husband James West, Marcia and husband Paul Sellers; grandchildren Alexa, Isiah and Maddyson Martinez, Nickolas and Lukas Pena, Gabriella Romero; mother in-law Joyce Pressley; many nieces and nephews; numerous caring aunts and uncles, and her loving extended church family. Pastor Dean Long will officiate a Funeral Service at Shafter Free Will Baptist Church, Mona's home church on Thursday, February 18, 2009 at 10 am. Visitation will be held Wednesday February 17th from 2 to 6 pm at Peters Funeral Home Chapel.
