Mildred V. "Mickey" Harwood, a native of Nevada and California and resident of Odessa, Mo., died Jan. 31, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs, Mo. She was 80 years old. Born April 1, 1928, she was the daughter of Clarence Hulse and Elsie (Littell) Hulse.. She married James P. Harwood April 23, 1946. One-time residents of Yucca Valley, Mr. and Mrs. Harwood lived there for approximately 10 years. Mrs. Harwood was a checkout clerk for Vons grocery store and a member of the Retail Clerks Union. She is survived by husband James P. Harwood of Odessa, Mo., daughter and son-in-law Jamie and Charles Christly of Odessa, Mo., son John P. Harwood, R.N., of Odessa, Mo., son and daughter-in-law Patrick H. and Kimberly Harwood of Oak Grove, Mo., two granddaughters, one stepgrandson, one stepgranddaughter and one step-great-granddaughter. A visitation will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 31, followed by a memorial service, in Oak Grove, Mo. Carmon Harwood will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Harwood's family requests memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association or The Trails Regional Library in Odessa, Mo.
