Mildred Marie Cathey (July 28, 1934 – January 23, 2022) was born in Georgetown, Arkansas to William H. and Sarah Acree and moved to Wasco, California in the late 1940s. Mildred attended Wasco High School, Class of 1952. She passed away in Shafter California. Mildred worked as a CNA at facilities in both Wasco and Shafter. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Denny's, several local hay companies, and BARC. Mildred was predeceased by both her parents William and Sarah; husband J.G. Cathey; brother John Wesley Acree; and sisters Thelma B. Auten, Ruby L. Martin, Ruth M. Wyer. She is survived by her daughter Connie Hitch and husband Steve of Bakersfield; son David Kendig of Wasco; grandson James Beasley and wife Gerlinde; granddaughters Ryan Lee and husband Steven, Kayla Gossett and husband Clayton, and Kayde Stiles and husband Brenden; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held later in February at Wasco Cemetery. The date will be posted in the Wasco News and on Facebook.
