Obituary

Miguel Vasquez Jr., 77, passed away on December 21, 2014, in Bakersfield, California surrounded by all his family. Words cannot describe the special relationship he had with his wife and eight children and over 20 grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Miguel Vasquez Jr. is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Maria Cervantes Vasquez, Juanita and Rafael Vargas, Rene and Pam Vasquez, Bano and Herminia Vasquez, Rick Vasquez, Daniel and Roselyn Vasquez, Israel and Dolores Vasquez, Mary and Chris Cordero, Criselda and Justin Morales. Family was the most important thing in Mike's life. That, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a true Texan. Some of his long times friends would call him El Tejano. Miguel Vasquez Jr. was born December 27, 1936, in Sebastian Texas to Miguel Sr. and Maria Loya Vasquez of Raymondville Texas. Mr. Vasquez spent over 45 years in the Central Valley and worked many years as a farm laborer. He and his wife, Maria, purchased their home in Shafter, CA. in 1983 and enjoyed many wonderful years together there. Services will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Peters Funeral Homes, 844 E Lerdo Highway, Shafter, from 2 to 8pm with the Rosary to be held at 6pm. On Monday, December 29, 2014 Mass will be held at St Therese Parish, 300 W Lerdo Hwy, Shafter, at 10am. Burial will follow the funeral at Shafter Cemetery, 18662 Santa Fe Way, Shafter, CA
