Michael McClanahan, a 44-year resident of California and a 20-year resident of Twentynine Palms, died March 3, 2009, in Temple, Texas. He was 54. Mr. McClanahan was born Sept. 2, 1954, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Paul and Florine McClanahan. He had been a custom cabinet-maker for 15 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran who enjoyed good food, rock-hunting and building bicycles for kids. Mr. McClanahan was preceded in death by his father and lifelong friend, Paul McGinty. He is survived by his longtime companion, Jamey Ball of Twentynine Palms; mother Florine McClanahan of Hemet; sister Patricia McClanahan of Stanton, two nieces, an aunt and uncle and many friends. Memorial services for Mr. McClanahan will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at Little Church of the Desert, 6079 Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms, with Pastor Charles Brown officiating.
