Mauricia "Maya" Amador was born in Sinaloa, Mexico on January 15, 1955 to Elsie Gutierrez and Manuel Urena. Elsie later met Antonio Vasquez and together they moved to Imperial Valley. Eventually they moved to Wasco, California where Mauricia attended Wasco High and received her GED, later she took some classes at Bakersfield College to become a teacher's aide. She worked for Kern County Superintendent of Schools. During Mauricia's time here she married Jimmy Amador. They wed on June of 81' and were together for 40 years until he passed away on April 29, 2012. Mauricia loved going to the casino and playing the slots. She loved food and going out to eat. Some of her favorite restaurants were Sugarmill, The Heritage, Jenny's from Delano and Yosemite Falls. She loved her dogs, Max, Larry, and Chiquita. She loved her family and they will miss her greatly. Mauricia is survived by her children, Mary Lou Van Pelt and husband Rod, Monica Saldana and husband Michael, Christina Cabrera and husband Jesus, Jimmy Amador and wife Amanda, Mark Amador and Carlos Amador and wife Mariyah; her brothers and sisters, Miguel Gonzalez, Michael Orlicky, Marina Padilla, Irma Martinez, Rachel Vasquez, Maggie Vasquez, Maria "Tona" Ramirez, Virginia Vasquez, Lucy, Lorena, Laura, Genoveva, Elsa, Manuel E., Victor, Alfredo and Felipe Ureña. Her cousin Diana Juarez and her best friend Laurie Palmer. She is preceded in death by her mother Elsie Gutierrez and her loving husband, Jimmy Amador.
