Mattie was born June 19, 1927 to Walter and Monte Belle Canard in St. James, Arkansas, and passed on January 15, 2007 in Pasadena, Ca. Mattie came to California at the age of 14 and in 1947 she came to Arvin where she met and married Leroy Trimble on November 6, 1947 on Main Street in Arvin 20 some years ago. She later went to work for Richard Son Farms. Mattie is survived by her daughter, Pam Bailey of Arvin; her son, Jimmy and wife Iris of Bakersfield; her grandchildren, Trever, Westley, Brandi, Charlie and Blake, and her priced possessions six great-grandchildren Ashley, Ryan, Tanner, Breah, Hannah, Eric and a special daughter Donna Laughlin; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. We love you Mom and Grandma. Mattie is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Canard and Monte Belle Younger. A memorial service was held Thursday, January 18, at 12 noon at Arvin Funeral Home at 600 Tucker St. Arvin, Ca 93203. Pastor Elmer Moody of Church of God officiated the service and interment followed at South Kern Cemetery District.
