Matthew Henry Rodriguez, Age:43

Passed March 2nd, 2026 Bakersfield, Ca.
Attended Stockdale High School, Bakersfield, Ca., Graduated from Centennial High School Bak,Ca., Worked for IdleAir Truck Stops as a Manager.

Matthew was very personable. He'd introduce himself and ask people their names. He believed in recognizing each individual and letting them know they were valued. He made friends wherever he went, the grocery stores Sprouts, Costco, Trader Joes and the Village Pet Shop. He was always engaging on a personal level with his doctors and community of park friends while walking his dog in the mornings.
There is so much that can be said about Matthew by all those whose lives he touched in his own unforgettable way.
Matthew had a presence you could feel the moment he walked into a room. It often began with a grin that spread across his face, followed by a laugh that was impossible not to return. If you were lucky, you'd be wrapped in one of his famous bear hugs, given a firm handshake and sometimes-if you were really special - an "I love you" with a kiss on the head to go with it.
He carried the heart of a protector. Even when no one asked, Matthew stood watch over the people he loved. It was simply who he was. Beneath his strength was a deeply kind, caring and loving soul whose light continues to shine through every memory, every photograph and every echo of laughter we still hear.
I will never forget my brother's voice, the sound of it filled with warmth, humor and love. And I will hold close our last words and the love we shared. Matthew's light didn't leave this world-it lives on in all of us who knew him.
We will love you forever. We will love you for always.
For as long as we live, our Matthew you will be.
