IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Matilde Lopez
Reyes
October 12, 1946 – September 19, 2024
Matilde L. Reyes, 77, of Richgrove, CA was called to be with the Lord peacefully on the morning of September 19, 2024.
Matilde L. Reyes was born on October 12, 1946 to Gregorio and Anita Reyes in Fresnio, Zacatecas. He was the only boy in the family out of 6 sisters. His highest level of education was the 6th grade, but that did not stop him from working hard to provide for his parents, sisters and family. He would then migrate every year to work in the fields coming from Texas down to Richgrove where he eventually met the love of his life Dolores Alejandro.
On October 28, 1966, Matilde and Dolores joined in holy matrimony and soon went on to have 4 children (Matilde Reyes Jr, Javier, Reyes, Baby Reyes and Maricela Reyes Roque).
After several years of working as a farm laborer, he became disabled. He went on the remainder of his years as a dedicated husband and father. He dedicated himself to his wife who he was married to for 57 years until the day she passed.
Matilde passion in life included going out to eat whenever he could either by himself or with his wife. They both enjoyed their time together taking rides to the casino and going to the beach any chance they got. He enjoyed being picked up by his sons and taken to their job sites to see what they did for a living. He also enjoyed showing up for chats and coffee when he could at his daughter's workplace. Sometimes he used that as an excuse for his wife to get mad and start looking for him. He tried every chance he could to go or have someone take him for coffee at McDonalds. He would even make the "M" sign using his hands on his head. He enjoyed fishing, walking, bicycling and grilling up some carne asada or chicken when he could. He loved making his famous chili that included 15 different types of chili components. He loved being around his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Matilde was proceeded in death by his father Gregorio Reyes, mother Anita Reyes, sister Maria Reyes, wife Dolores Reyes and Daughter Baby Reyes. He is survived by his sisters Socorro Reyes, Manuel Reyes, Estella Nolasco, Rafaela Reyes and Julia Reyes. His children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law's, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
