Matthew Hill Salazar

Matthew Hill Salazar was born on July 8, 1978, to Augustina Salazar and Samuel L. Hill.

Matt grew up in East Bakersfield, where he attended Mount Vernon Elementary School, Sierra Junior High School, and Highland High School. He was lovingly raised by his mother, Augustina Salazar, and his aunt, Stella, whose care, encouragement, and guidance helped shape the man he became.

After graduating from high school,Matthew attended Santa Barbara City College. He loved sports and especially enjoyed playing basketball and football. He was also a devoted L.A. Chargers fan, and his enthusiasm and energy were part of the joy he brought to those around him.

Matt was the beloved oldest brother to Hassan and Eli. He will be remembered for his generous heart, warm spirit, and the genuine love he shared with his family and friends.Matthew also held a cherished place in his father’s family. He is lovingly remembered by his father, Samuel L. Hill; his paternal grandmother, Zell L. Hill; his brother, Delano Hill; his sisters, Shekinah Hill, Angele and Samatha his aunts, Linda, Lucinda, and Daisy, and four nieces along with a host of cousins and extended family who loved him dearly.

When Matt visited his Pasadena family, his big laugh, bright smile, and joyful presence brought happiness to every gathering. He was a treasured part of the Hill family and leaves behind a legacy of love, connection, and unforgettable memories.

Matthew passed away on June 22 after a long and courageous struggle with depression. His family is heartbroken by this loss and hopes his memory will encourage others to lead with compassion, check in on those they love, and remind one another that no one has to face their burdens alone.

Matt will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
