Mrs. Steele was born September 26, 1915, in Morris, Oklahoma, to John and Ella (Smithson) Hildebrand. She married Leonard Steele in January 15, 1934, in Beggs, Oklahoma, and moved to California in 1936. Mary served her family as a homemaker and she enjoyed being with her family. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Steele; her brother, George Hildebrand; her daughter, Letha Goff; and a great- granddaughter, Adrian Edwards. She is survived by her sister, Letha Santillan, her brother, Wayne Hildebrand and wife Lucille, and sister-in-law, Wanda Hildebrand; her four grandchildren and their spouses, Jack and Lori Roberts, Becky and Doug Hall, Cindy and Jim Edwards, and Bill and Gaylene Roberts, 9 great grand children, and 3 1/2 great-great grand children. She was a wonderful lady and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 23, 2006, 10:00am at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco, at 1401 7th Street for Mary Louise Steele, age 91, who passed away December 19, 2006, in Delano. Pastor Jim Cherry of Rexland Assembly of God Church officiated and interment followed at Wasco Memorial Park. Serving, as casket bearers were Douglas Hall, Jack, Bill and Christopher Roberts, Jim Edwards and Shawn Urquhart.
