Mary Spencer, a 56-year resident of California and a 30-year resident of Yucca Valley, died at home Aug. 23, 2012. She was 89 years old. The daughter of John Chakerian and Sophie Andonian, she was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Providence, R.I. Mrs. Spencer was a secretary at Raytheon Sales before retiring. She was a member of the Emblem Club and the American Legion. She was an avid reader and loved going to Primm, Nev., Mrs. Spencer loved her family and home. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1983, her sister in 1985, her brother Arthur in 2001 and her brother Arsen in 2012. Mrs. Spencer is survived by her husband, John Spencer, of Yucca Valley; son Brad Spencer of Murrietta; daughter Lynda La Vone of Yucca Valley; son-in-law Jeff La Vone of Yucca Valley; and daughter-in-law Conney Spencer of Murrietta. She also is survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Interment will be private at Joshua Tree Memorial Park.
