Mary was born to the late Albert and Hazel Jones in Van Buren, Arkansas. She married the late Louis Rice in 1957 in California. In 1966 they divorced and she moved back to Arkansas where she worked for Whirlpool for 15 years before retiring. In 1988 she moved back to Bakersfield, California. She worked for Frito Lay before retiring in 2003. She and Louis had reconnected during the time she moved back and returned to Arkansas to enjoy retirement. She spent her time gardening and enjoy time with family. In 2012 she moved back to Bakersfield to live with her son Ricky and wife Tami due to health problems. Mary is survived by her children Ricky and wife Tami; Dennis and wife Sandy; grandchildren - Nichole; and Cody; brother Huber Jones and wife Charlotte, half brother and sister Paul and Kathy; niece Patsy Street. She is preceded in death by her son and daughter Danny and Deana Rice; brother's Leroy; Muriel; Franklin; Donald; and sister Carmen. A memorial service will be held at First Southern Baptist Church, 250 Kern Street, Shafter, California, on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to Hoffman Hospice or CBCC Foundation in honor of Mary Sue Scott.
