Obituary

Born to Theresa Lorenzano Garces and Secondino Garces in Chiuahua, Mexico. She was the last surviving child of ten children. The family moved to Moorpark, California when she was a young girl. After completing her education there in Moorpark, she moved to Los Angeles to attain her cosmetology degree. While being employed as a hairdresser in Los Angeles, she married Cornelius (Corney) Morales on November 20, 1938. She became a citizen of the United States on November 16, 1943. After living a short time in Brentwood, as well in Santa Barbara they moved in 1952 to Bakersfield where they spent the remainder of their lives. She took great delight in raising her children. Her catholic faith helped her thorough out her entire life. She was a parishioner for 57 years at St. Joseph Church and a member of the St. Joseph Altar Society and attended as many functions as possible. She was also a member of The Catholic Daughters of America. She was happiest being surrounded by her grand and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her only son, "Corney" Morales Jr. in 1964 and her husband "Corney Sr." in 1982. She is survived by her three daughters, Mary and husband Terry Stonebraker of Bakersfield, Ca., Edith (Edie) and husband Michael Zenner of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Donna (Doni) and husband Jerry R. Burt of Water Valley, Mississippi. Grandchildren, Keith and Lori Stonebraker, Sheila Sellers, Cara Goldbach, Tania Burt-Prothro, Tara Burt, Brian Gray and 16 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 17th at Hopson Mortuary, 620 Oregon Street from 5 to 8 p.m. with the rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Burial services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1515 Baker Street on Friday at 1 p.m. with internment at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd.
