Mary Irene Nutter Mrs. Mary I. Nutter, 83, of Joshua Tree, CA, passed away September 26, 2009 in Redlands, CA after a long struggle with dementia. Mary was born (Mary Leach) 7/29/1926 in Detroit Michigan. Mary grew up in Detroit, MI and was married to George P, Polyák . She moved to California with her second husband Tom Coletta and lived in Joshua Tree, CA where Tom and Mary operated a music shop. After Tom passed away she met her third husband Joseph Nutter. Joe and Mary were active in the Palm Springs and High Desert areas through Joe Nutter and his band. Mary managed his jazz band "Sophisticated Swing". They performed for years throughout the desert area to the delight of many people. Mary loved to dance. She was a gregarious lady and loved the sunshine provided by living in the desert area. She is survived by her two sons Phillip Polyák (wife Mary), and Terry Polyák (wife Terry Strand) and five grandchildren: Phillip and Brooke (Polyák) and Lindsey, Kelsey, Adam (Strand-Polyák), Mary also is survived by her brother Michael Leach, (wife June). Preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Nutter, she has requested they be buried together.
