Mary Helen Haile was born April 4, 1932 in San Pedro, California to Helen Louisa (Mengel) and John Robinson Haile. The family moved to San Luis Obispo, California after Mary graduated from high school and she attended Cal Poly University. She worked as an operator for the phone company and as a department store clerk and was a volunteer at Cottage Hospital. She also worked in Santa Barbara as a bookkeeper for an assisted living facility. Mary was a member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed drawing and loved to write to friends and family. She also enjoyed spending time visiting with family, especially during the holidays. She also liked to attend plays in Solvang, California Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Haile and sister, Barbara Haile Craig. Mary is survived by her sisters, Joanne Haile Mullis (Jim) and Carol Haile Todd; brother-in-law, Charles Craig; nieces and nephews, Sherod Craig (Audrey), Warren Craig (Cheryl), Adrienne Craig, Susan Applegarth (Al), Stanley Mullis (Maureen), Merodie Mullis, Christopher Mullis (Marie), Glen Todd and Greg Todd (Andrea). One aunt Marian Haugen of Oslo, Norway, and three cousins, Kristen Haugen, Betty Helgeland, and Ingrid Williamson; and numerous grandnieces and nephews. A graveside under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11am at Wasco Memorial Park. Pastor Rey Letana of First United Methodist Church will officiate the service.
