IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Esther
Chandler (Petty)
December 4, 1916 – November 3, 2009
Mary Esther (Petty) Chandler fell asleep in her Lord's hands on Tuesday night, November 3, 2009. She was born in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Stella (Barrell) and Samuel Houston Deaver. She came to Lamont California where she and Mr. John Love Petty III exchanged wedding vows on May 14, 1938 and had two lovely daughters. Mary was a homemaker a nurse, a councilor, a wife, a mother and a servant of the Lord. She started sewing most of her girls clothing on her push peddle machine and enjoyed working on that for years until she was able to get an electrical one. She was a wonderful seamstress who made wedding dresses and very well known as for her alterations. Lamont Assembly of God has her noted as the longest and oldest member of the church; where until 2005 sang in the choir. She had a beautiful soprano voice yet was also a good base; Mary could look once at a music piece and sing it without missing a note. She also played the violin; the heavens received an addition to their musical angels. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Love Petty III (1990) and grandson, Mark Fowler (1983), survived by her two daughters, Wanda Shinpoch of Hanford and Doris Fowler of Bakersfield; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 10 am Graveside Service will be held for Mary Esther Chandler, age 92 of Bakersfield, at Hillcrest Cemetery Monday, November 9, 2009 with Pastor Robbin Robinson of Canyon Hills providing words of comfort.
