Mary Carrasco was born September 20, 1927 in Shafter, California to Donaciana Rojas and Pablo Contreras. She attended the local schools and Shafter High School. Mary and Rosendo Carrasco, life-long residents of Shafter, were married August 1, 1953 at St. Therese's Catholic Church. Mary was known to many in Shafter because of her 25 plus years working at Stringham's Drug Store. Because she was so friendly and social, she would talk with anyone. You always knew where you stood with Mary. She loved to read, garden, watch Dodger Baseball and Westerns on TV with Rosendo. But, her passion was her home and her family. Mary loved her husband, children and grandsons who will miss her greatly. Mary is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rosendo Carrasco of Shafter; sons, Rusty Carrasco and Christopher Carrasco; daughters, Anna Carrasco Parker and husband Jeff, Frances Carrasco Stegall and husband Anthony and Paula Carrasco; 3 grandsons, Tony Stegall, Patrick Stegall and Matthew Stegall; and many other loving family members and friends. Holy Rosary will be recited Monday, January 5 at 3:30pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter for Mary Carrasco, age 87, of Shafter who passed away January 1, 2015 in Shafter. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 6 at 10am at St. Therese's Church officiated by Fr. Enriquez. A graveside will be held at 2pm Bakersfield National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, January 5 from 2pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
