Obituary

On Tuesday June 4th, 2019 Mary Jo Anderson, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and resident of Shafter, CA, passed away suddenly at her home. Born on July 18, 1951 in San Mateo, CA, Mary Jo married Allen Anderson in Reno, NV on June 10, 1972. After starting their family in Weed, CA, they moved to Camp Roberts, CA where they spent almost 30 wonderful years. Then in 2006 they retired to Shafter, CA. Mary Jo loved the outdoors, especially in Morro Bay, and enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren whom brought her great joy in her later years. You could often find her relaxing with a cross word puzzle, making spaghetti for her family; she had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Mary Jo loved to love on people and had passion for teaching children and adults alike how to read and write. This love of teaching started off when her children were young at Lillian Larsen Elementary School. And it evolved over the years while she volunteered with the Kern Adult Literacy Council and Sequoia Elementary School. She is survived by her husband, Allen Anderson, her daughter Karen Edge, her son David Anderson, her granddaughter Emilee Edge, her grandsons Trevor and Carter Edge, her 3 brothers, and 6 sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at Minter Field, 401 Vultee St, Shafter, CA 93263 on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Mary Jo loved her, "comfies". Please honor her and come relaxed wearing your comfortable clothes. In lieu of flowers please donate to Kern Literacy down below https://www.kernliteracy.org/donate
