Marvin Tures, a longtime resident of Twentynine Palms, died Jan. 1, 2009, with his wife at his side. He was 86. Mr. Tures was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Shevlin, Minn., to Hugh Elmer and Cecelia Tures. He met his wife of nearly 62 years, Evelyn, in 1943 at a church in Bell Gardens. They were married in the church in 1947. Mr. Tures was passionate about God and spent much of his time teaching others about the Bible, and preaching about what was written from Genesis to Revelations. He and Mrs. Tures worked with a church group in the Wonder Valley Community Center and Desert Heights until his health required him to enter Hi-Desert Continuing Care Center in Joshua Tree. Mr. Tures was preceded in death by his son, Dennis. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Tures of Twentynine Palms; sons Dewayne of Sandy, Ore., Robert of Tucson, Ariz., and Marlin of Riverside; grandchildren Nannette, Jannette, Dannette, Matthew, Dustin, Meghan, Joshua, Jessica and Jenny; and great-grandchildren Alexis, Naomi, Deane, Zetta, Zoe, Xander, Emma, Halie, Meghan and Jaden. Services for Mr. Tures were held in Riverside.
