Obituary

Martha Peters went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 7, 2024, in Shafter. Martha was born June 22, 1933, in Hillsboro, Kansas to Frank and Sarah (Zielke) Penner, the 11th of 13 children. They married August 17, 1951, and in November moved to Ukiah to begin Clarence's alternative service, both working at Mendocino State Hospital. Career changes took them from farming to Porterville State Hospital to funeral service. They bought Agee Family Funeral Home in 1973 and worked side by side until their retirement in 1994. They enjoyed traveling together for many years. Martha was a talented crafter but excelled in embroidery and gift wrapping. She was a member of the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church where she and Clarence served as Deacons and Youth Leaders.

Martha was preceded in death by her son, Loren Peters; parents and eleven siblings. Martha is survived by her husband of 72 years, Clarence Peters; children, Carolyn Peters, Cheryl and husband Rick Woody, Les Peters and wife Kim, Frank Peters and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Roxanne Cusick, Rick Woody and wife Ruby, Daniel Vierra, Toni and husband Peter Frantz, Matt Peters and wife Jenna, Allison Peters, Nikki and husband Rob Smee, Zackaria Peters and wife Katie, Megan and husband Dallas Pruitt, Jared Peters and wife Taylor; great grandchildren, Georgia, Ricky and Romeo Woody, Kate and Tess Frantz, Abigail and Oliver Pruitt, Sydney and Claire Peters, Cadence and Brodie Peters, and Bryson Smee; sister, Evelyn Wall and sister-in-law, Margaret Penner and a host of other family members.
