Martha Juarez Martinez January 30, 1941 – April 13, 2011 Martha Juarez Martinez was born January 30, 1941 in Indio, California to Consuelo (Gonzales) and Jose Juarez. They moved to Bakersfield shortly after she was born and she has lived here since. Martha married Mario C. Martinez August 19, 1963 and this summer would have been their 48th wedding anniversary. Martha was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting until her hands gave out. She was an excellent cook and the family favorite was her tamales. Martha also enjoyed canning fruits and tomatoes during the harvest season to share with family and friends. Martha loved being with all her grandchildren, family was the most important part of her life. Martha was preceded in death by her son, Gabriel Vega; sisters, Felipa Mendoza and Espansa Martinez; brother, Joseph Juarez; sisters-in-law, Linda Juarez and Lupe Juarez; and brothers-in-law, Neito Martinez and Gregorio Mendoza. She is survived by her husband, Mario C. Martinez; sons, Mario Martinez, Jr. and Lupe "Mike" Martinez; daughter, Esther Martinez and Darryl Arterberry; grandchildren, Jonnie Jara, Angel Vega, Gabriel Vega, Amber Vega, Isaiah Amaya, Alonso Amaya, Abriana Arterberry; sister, Leonila "Nani" and husband Pete Orona; daughter-in-law, Angel Vega Gauna; brothers, Gilbert "Bebo" Juarez, Eusevio "Chevo" Juarez and Jesse "Coney" Juarez and wife Norma and many other great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Holy Rosary will be recited Monday, April 18, at 7pm at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary for Martha Juarez Martinez, age, 70, who passed away April 13, 2011 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said Tuesday, April 19, at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 4pm to 8pm.
