Obituary

Marlene Ann Whitmore (Poe) passed away peacefully in her home in Bakersfield (Rosedale) CA on February 23, 2025. She was born to Annac Lowrance and Floyce Poe in Breckenridge, TX on January 28, 1938. She was the oldest of three Children. She met and fell in love with Tommy Lane Whitmore, and they married in Odessa TX on December 3, 1954. Together they raised two beautiful and amazing children and grandchildren, (her granddaughter always told her they were her favorite Love Story). She retired from Rosedale Union School District and owned T&M Fire Sprinklers with Tommy. Marlene loved Gardening, family and friends, camping and fishing trips, and weekend get together with friends.

Marlene Whitmore is preceded in death by her husband Tommy Lane Whitmore (2/11), her Daughter Teresa Lane Whitmore-Harris (4/08), Brother Floy Poe (24) and her Best Friend Patricia (Trish) Edwards (2/11). Plus, many very close friends she considered Family. She is survived by her Sister Shyrel Burns and her loving and faithful son who was also her caregiver the last 2 1/2 years, James David Whitmore, Granddaughter Laurie Ann Starks (Chris), Tommy Jason Harris (Christina), and Christopher Shawn Harris. Marlene also had 4 Great Grandchildren, Amanda (Mandie) Hatchett, Christopher "Dillon" Starks (Kate) and Carson Reagan Starks and Tommy Ryan Harris. She also was blessed with 4 Great-Great Children Xzander Lane, Braxton Elijah, Tommy Luka and soon Loralei Ruth. Marlene was also blessed to have Barbara Smith (sister-in-law) as one of her dearest closest Friend right by her side! Marlene was loved very much and will be deeply missed by all!
