Marie Owens was born in Leonard, Texas on June 15, 1931 to William Ellis & Ruby (Parham) Hill. Marie worked as a waitress for many years at Sportsman's Café and Cousins Café in Shafter. She also worked at the Shafter Convalescent Hospital as a Nurse's Aide for 17 years. She was 83 years old when she passed away on June 25, 2014 in Shafter, California. She is survived by her husband of 37 years Kenneth Owens; sons Freddie Hutchison (Joanie) of Bakersfield, William Hutchison (Linda) of Bakersfield and Ronald Hutchison of Bakersfield; daughter Sharon King (Perry) of Caliente; step children Michael, Rhonda and Steven Owens; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers Delbert Hill, Burris Hill, Raymond Hill, Gene Hill, Otis Hill, Paul Hill, Norman Hill, and sister Judith Raught A Funeral service was held at Peters Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at 10am.
