Marie Criner was born November 14, 1940 to Elizabeth (Combs) and Virgil Clark in Humphrey, Arkansas. The family moved to Wasco when Marie was 10 years old and she attended Wasco elementary schools and Wasco and Shafter High Schools. Marie and Leeroy Criner were married May 8, 1957 and they made Wasco their home. Marie had a long career in food service beginning at Mom n Pops Restaurant, Toms Coffee Shop and then retiring from the Wasco High School Cafeteria. Marie was a long-time member of the Freewill Baptist Church and also attended Westside Family Fellowship. Marie had a very giving spirit, taking care of her parents, Grandma Criner and many other family members, babysitting for grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Marie final wish was for peace for her family and she wanted all of them to know of her great love for them. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Leeroy Criner, December 25, 2005; her parents, Virgil and Elizabeth Clark and grandson, Cobyn Criner. She is survived by her son, Tony Criner and wife Regina; grandchildren, TJ Criner and wife Stephanie, Tim Criner and wife Vanessa, Tyler Criner and wife Cecilia; Kristial Gregory, Michael Gregory, Curtis Munoz, Sharon Criner, Veronica Criner and Joshua Criner; and great grandchildren, Bryce Criner, Caleb Criner and Teegan Criner; and brother, Carl Clark and wife Kay; and many loving nieces and nephews and a host of family members on the Criner side. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 14, at 10am at Wasco Memorial Park for Marie Criner, age 73, of Wasco who passed away February 9, 2014 in Bakersfield. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 13 from 2pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
