Maria Antonia Vasquez was born on June 13, 1929 in Mexico to Guadalupe (Gomez) and Pablo Barron, one of seven children. Maria was married to her husband Pantaleon for 65 years. Like many of her generation, Maria worked in many different types of agriculture to help support the family. For the last 20 years she has been serving her family as a homemaker. On Sunday's the family gathered at her home to enjoy her cooking. Menudo, tamales and mole were the family favorites. She was a great mother and grandmother. Maria is preceded in death by her son, George Vasquez (2008) and an infant child. She is survived by her husband, Pantaleon; sons, David, Louis, Gabriel, Chris and wife Monica; daughters, Ermalinda Cortinas, Mary Vasquez, Josefina Loza, Alcadia Bustos, Rosa Bronkema and husband Donald, Ofelia Cervantes and husband Juventino, Candie Morales and husband James and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at 10 am at Westside Family Fellowship for Maria Antonia Vasquez, age 80, of Wasco, who passed away February 8, 2010 in Shafter. Pastor Johnny Martinez will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 2pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
