Maria P. Nazaroff was born June 9, 1932 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico to Paul and Manya (Samaduroff) Samarin, one of 12 children. She grew up in Ensenada and married Gabriel Nazaroff on February 8, 1953. Shortly after they immigrated to California to the Los Angeles area and settled in Wasco in 1954. Maria and Gabriel moved to San Marcos for 10 years and have been residents of Shafter for the last 20 years. Maria loved to go swimming in the ocean and vacationing at the beach. She also enjoyed sewing for herself and her family. Maria was an active member of her church, the Russian Malacan Church of Shafter and took an interest in others helping them when she was able. Maria is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gabriel Nazaroff; son, Morris Nazaroff and wife Lydia of Shafter; daughters, Elena Baghdanov and husband Jack of Woodburn, Oregon, Luba Pivovaroff and husband Jack of La Mirada and Manya Samarin and husband Mike of La Habra; 4 sisters; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Morris Nazaroff, 1985; parents; 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Services will begin Friday, March 13 at 4pm at the Shafter Russian Malacan Church and graveside services will be Saturday, March 14 at 9am at Shafter Memorial Park.
