Surrounded by her entire family, Maria Olvera Muñoz went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday evening, January 8, 2014 at the age of 88. She was born on November 8, 1925 in Douglas, Arizona. She joins her husband Pascual Muñoz, four sisters, and one brother who have preceded her in death. Maria was a proud and selfless wife, mother, and grandmother she spent her life in dedication to her family. She was a second mother to several of her grandchildren and too many of her children's spouses. She lived her entire life loving us all like her own children, using her fantastic cooking skills to feed us, and most importantly, teaching us how to love and live life in service to one another. Maria is survived by her brother Roman; daughters Virginia, Louisa, and Alice; sons Pascual, Moses, Isidro, and Victor; step-daughters Jessie and Mary; 26 grandchildren;28 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was the glue that has held our family together for several years, and we now hope to live our lives in a manner worthy of the legacy she left us. A public viewing will be held at Peter's Funeral Home in Shafer, CA on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 4 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 6pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 10am at Peters Funeral Home Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Shafter Memorial Park.
