Maria Guadalupe Garza was born March 29, 1920 in Cuidad Victoria, the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico to Francisco and Maria Olvera. She married Tomas Garza on March 25, 1948. Maria went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 10, 2008. She was a godly woman who read her bible daily. Her mind remained lucid until the day of her passing. Her family was blessed to have her as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and best friend. Maria was a prayer warrior to family, friends and strangers. Everyone loved her and she will be deeply missed. Maria is survived by children, Betty Arroyo of Bakersfield, Tom Garza and wife Patricia of Wasco, Anna Bowen and husband Keith of Bakersfield; brother, Moises Olvera of Mexico; grandchildren, Miriam Baker, Stefanie Baker and husband Brad, Matthew Garza, Jared Waggoner, David Waggoner and wife Ester, Winston Garza and wife Shayla, Nick Garza, Christina Garza, Angelica Garza, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by Tomas Garza, her husband of 52 years, seven siblings and one great grandchild. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Maria's church family, the staff at Courtyard Family Medical Center and Hoffman Hospice for their tender loving care. A burial service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 15, 2008 at Jesus Es La Resurection y La Vida in Wasco for Maria G. Garza, age 88, of Bakersfield who passed away September 10, 2008. Pastor Apolinar Felix will officiate services under the direction of Peters Funeral Home and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
