She married Benito Castillo April 1, 1945. They moved to Fresno, California and later to Wasco where they have resided for the last 51 year. Maria served her family as a homemaker and loved being surrounded by family and cooking big meals. The family loved her tamales and appreciated her hard work in preparing them. Maria was known for her beautiful garden and it was easy to see that yellow was her favorite color for flowers, but she also grew peppers, tomatoes, cilantro and had an avocado tree. All the ingredients for her great homemade salsa which she enjoyed making along with homemade tortillas. Maria enjoyed playing bingo locally or going to her favorite casino, Tachi Palace in Lemoore. Maria liked taking walks with her little dog, Skippy and missed his happy companionship when he passed away. Maria was a devoted wife, loving mother, good grandmother and will be missed by her large and loving family. She is survived by her spouse, Benito Castillo of Wasco; sons, Benito Castillo, Jr. and wife Mary, Richard Castillo, Robert Castillo and wife Emma, Jose Castillo and wife Patsy, David Castillo and wife Bernice, Rafael Castillo and wife Armida, Johnny Castillo and wife Lori; daughters, Carmen and husband Roy Martin, Gloria Castillo, Nelda and husband Angel Gonzalez, Nancy Marie Castillo; sisters, Margarita Banda, Corina Bonilla, Joaquina Greer, Juanita Montoya; brother, Reynaldo Trevino; 54 grandchildren, 126 great grand children and 31 great great grandchildren. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Leonardo and Victoria; son, Ysabel; daughter, Nancy; and brother, Leonardo Trevino, Jr. Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, October 1 at 6pm at St. John's Church for Maria Trevino Castillo, age 89 of Wasco passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 28, 2015 surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 2, at 10am at St. John's Church. Fr. Raul Sanchez will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. A visitation will be held and the family will receive friends Thursday, October 1 from 2pm to 5pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
