Maria Antonia Renteria Gonzalez was born May 7, 1950 in Bakersfield, California to Lucia (Beltran) and Paz Renteria, one of twelve children. She was a life-long resident of Wasco attending Wasco elementary schools and graduating from Wasco High School. She and Jose L. Gonzalez were married in 1974 and he preceded her in death in 1991. In her younger years, she did seasonal work in agriculture. Maria was generous with her time helping any one in need; she was always helping by cleaning houses, garages and yards. This generous spirit earned her many friends. Maria never drove a car, so she walked everywhere until she got her scooter. Maria was a loving mother and took pride in her grandchildren and loved them very much. Maria is survived by her son, Paul Gonzalez and wife Leann of Wasco; grandchildren, Adrianna, Paul, Jr., Raven, Noah, Jacob and Lena; siblings, Frank Renteria, Steve Renteria, Rudy Renteria, Andy Renteria, Clara Acosta, Jenny Zapata, Christina Flores, Chris Flores and Rosario Flores; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Tony Renteria and Gilbert Renteria. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16 at 10am at Peters Funeral Home for Maria Antonia Renteria Gonzalez, age 64, of Wasco who passed away July 11, 2014 at her home, with her family by her side. Her brother, Pastor Rudy Renteria will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 15 from 2pm – 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
