Maria Alma Robledo was born March 2, 1955 in Toppenish, Washington to Manuel and Maria (Santos) Robledo, one of eight children. The family moved to Wasco in 1964 and Maria attended Wasco elementary schools and graduated from Wasco Union High School with the Class of 1973. She continued her education at Bakersfield College earning her Associate of Arts Degree. Maria worked as a bus driver, first for Golden Empire Transit for 10 years, then for the last 6 years for the Wasco Union High School District as a special educations bus driver. Maria loved to travel and the Pacific Northwest was her favorite area. Her travels took her to Seattle, Washington, Salem Oregon, Canada, Mexico and the California beaches. Maria is survived by her daughter, Lucia Rosa Salazar of Bakersfield; mother, Maria Eliza Robledo of Wasco; special companion, James Phillips of Wasco; brothers Roldan Robledo of Rancho Cucamonga, Fred Robledo, Sr. and wife Faye of Wasco; Mario Robledo and wife Andra of Bakersfield; sisters, Yolanda E. Robledo and husband David of Bakersfield, Sonia Robledo of Seattle, Washington, Elsa Mancera and husband Enrique of Bakersfield, Lamar Rodriguez and husband Arturo of Washington; and many other loving family members. Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home for Maria Alma Robledo, age 54, of Wasco who passed away June 7, 2009 in Bakersfield. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 12, at 10am at Wasco Memorial Park. Fr. John of St. Johns Church will officiate and interment will follow. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11, from 2pm until 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
