IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marguerite D.
Lyons
May 27, 1920 – June 13, 2012
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Oasis Community Church, for Marguerite Dorene Lyons, 92, of Twentynine Palms, who passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Desert Rose Elder Care. Private graveside services will be held at the Twentynine Palms Cemetery. Born on May 27, 1920, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was adopted two days later by Henry Edward Smith and Lillie May (Gilpin) Smith. She was a 92-year resident of California. She married John Lacey Lyons on July 10, 1943, and was married to him for 38 years, until he passed away on March 6, 1982. She is survived by daughters Diana Lee Lyons of Twentynine Palms and Patricia Annette Pierce of Mission Viejo, granddaughter Elizabeth Dorene Myers of Redlands, grandsons John William Lyons of Yucca Valley, Jason Lyons Pierce of Dana Point and Kyle David Pierce of Los Angeles and by four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was active with the Twentynine Palms Republican Women, Aglow and Soroptimist International. Her passing is a great loss to many in our community. She loved her neighbors and her life in Twentynine Palms. She was blessed by her two daughters, four grandchildren, Elizabeth, John, Jason, and Kyle, her four great-grandchildren Nancy, Joseph, Dylan, and Aaron, and her great-great grandchild Christian. She was certainly a pioneer of the desert.
