Obituary

Margaret R Ranjel, 1927 to 2015, an extraordinary wife, mother and educator, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2015 at San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield, California. Margaret and her surviving 98 year old husband Albert, of Wasco, California; was known for her common sense philanthropy, service to the Hispanic community and commitment to family. The eldest of and surrogate mother to 14 children due to both parents working, Margaret's counsel was sought out by friends and family throughout her life. From humble beginnings, hard work, farm labor to the classroom, Margaret recognized that education and self reliance was the best way out of poverty. Margaret finally achieved her high school diploma by going to night school. She used her diploma to get a job as a tutor for many Spanish speaking elementary school students. Recognizing that an essential element of learning English was motivation; she engaged the students, interacted with their parents and served as a bridge between the classroom and home. The family would like to thank the Medical ICU-1 nursing staff of San Joaquin Community Hospital for their outstanding care of Mom while being vigilant of our 98 year old father. Margaret R. Ranjel is survived by her husband Alberto F. Ranjel; daughter, Frances Zuniga of Wasco; son, Alberto Ranjel, Jr. Of Tucson AZ; and siblings, Mary Garcia of West Los Angeles,Virgina Martinez of Bakersfield Nicolas Rodriguez of Antelope Valley, Manuel Rodriguez of Mission, Cruz Rodriguez of Wasco, Natalia Garcia of Wasco, Jessie Lemos of Long Beach, Larry Rodriguez of Bakersfield, Leonard Rodriguez of Wasco and Phyllis Rodriguez of Wasco.
