Margaret Marie Flowers was born in Coweta Oklahoma on April 28, 1926 to Rosie Isoline (Griffith) and Everett Wilson Ledbetter. The last school she attended was Santa Fe School in Shafter. Her five children were born in Shafter; she loved working outside for the most part. In her younger years, she had a beautiful rose garden that she attended to. Some of her favorite pastimes were to embroider, work outdoors, camping and fishing. She enjoyed spending much time with her grand babies and great-grand babies. Ayris spent some quality time with Margaret the day before she passed and Margaret clearly and specifically wanted her family to know "she loved them all very much", that was the last message she sent with love. Margaret is preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Henry Akman (1957), Charlie Flowers (1989), David Brunson (2008); children Jacqueline Lankford (2008 and Don Wayne Akman (2008). She is survived by her sons David and wife Sonia, Gary Akman and wife Julie, daughter, Letitia Ann Westlund; 34 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, including Derrick Wayne Brunson who was very special to her, he is coming home from the middle east where he's been on the USS Ronald Regan, and 14 great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held for Margaret Marie Flowers, age 83 who passed away June 21, 2009 will be held at Shafter Memorial Park on Friday, June 26 with Pastor Dean Long of Shafter Free Will Baptist officiating. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, June 25th at Peters Funeral Home Chapel from 2-8pm.
