In Loving Memory of Margaret Ethel Eslick

Margaret Ethel Eslick, beloved mother, grandmother, meemaw, great-grandmother, and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2025 at the age of 82.

Margaret was born in Ada, Oklahoma, on August 23rd, 1942. She was raised in Shafter, California as the youngest of ten siblings, and learned early the value of family, love, and resilience. She married the love of her life, Royce Lee Eslick on October 16th, 1961 at the age of 19, and together they built a beautiful life. They raised four sons (Allen, Brian, Christopher, and Gregory) while moving across the country for his military career. No matter where life took them, she made every place feel like home.

A devoted wife and mother, Margaret poured her heart into caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and baker, best known for her famous fried chicken, banana bread, and the warmth she brought to every family gathering. Her home was the heart of the Eslick family — a place of comfort, sweet iced tea, full bellies, long naps, and love.

Margaret is survived by her four sons, three daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all of whom she loved fiercely and celebrated proudly. Her grandchildren will always remember her strong will, her wit, her warm hugs, and her deep, unwavering love. She had a special fondness for owls, and a knack for telling (and retelling) stories, always accompanied by her warm laughter.

Margaret leaves behind a legacy of love, tradition, and strength; one that lives on in every meal shared, every story told, and every life she touched.

She was deeply loved and will be forever missed.A viewing will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 11am-12pm with a funeral service at 12pm at Peters Funeral Home Shafter. A graveside service will follow at Shafter Memorial Park at 1:15pm.
