Manuel Garza-Pena 02/03/1954-12/19/2006 Manuel was born February 3, 1954, In Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Guadalupe Garza and Julia Pena. He married Maria Gonzalez on October 23, 1980, in Rio Grande City, Texas, and they made their home in Shafter, California. Manuel served his family as a security guard for Belridge Farms in McKittrick, Ca. and Superior Farms in Wasco, Ca. until he was permanently disabled in 1989. He then went to Seminar School and graduated as a Pastor in 1998. He served the Lord as a Baptist Chaplin for Memorial Hospital. Manuel passed away on December 18, 2006, in Bakersfield. He is survived by his wife, Maria Garza; his daughters, Cynthia Garza-Marquez and Marilyn Garza; his son-in-law, Francisco Marquez, Jr.; his mother, Julia Garza; his brothers and sisters, Isaias Garza, Isaac Garza, Ivan Garza, Israel Garza, Hilda Garza, Irma Garza, Ilsa Barrios and Iris Alvarado. Manuel Garza-Pena was not only a protector in his job but as a father, he protected everyone until his last day and will continue to do so up in heaven. He was greatly loved and will be missed; but those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will see him again. Funeral services were conducted by Peters Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 2657 Niles St. Bakersfield. Interment will follow at 2pm at Wasco Memorial Park.
