A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday November 24, at 12:30 p.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Millie Kappeler, 83 who passed away November 20, 2008. Mildred was born in Oakland, CA and attended parochial schools in Alameda, graduating from Alameda High in 1945. She married Jack after his return from service in January 1946. Life in the oil industry took her to Paso Robles, Ojai, Bakersfield, Houston, LA and back to Bakersfield for her last 30 years. Millie was an accomplished artist, under the direction of Liz Duval. Her works have been professionally reproduced. Mildred worked for many years with the handicapped at BARC and in the Houston school districts. She is survived by husband, Jack; sisters, Lorraine and Elizabeth; daughter, Jacqueline Tarchala and husband, Bill; their children, Wayne Crews and wife, Christine; great grandchildren, Anna and Andrew, Chet Crews and wife, Beth, Wendy Crews, Craig Crews and wife, Linda; great grand-daughters, Julia and Caroline; daughter, Kristine Yamashiro and husband, Dan; son, Jon Paul and wife, Mardee; daughter, Denise Renfrow and husband, Lance; granddaughters, Brittney White and Brianna Renfrow.
