Funeral services were conducted by Peters Funeral Home for Magdalena Carrasco, age 79, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary being held on Thursday, October 26, 2006, at 6pm, at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, October 27, 2006, at 10am, at St. John's Catholic Church in Wasco; Father John Fluetsch officiated. Interment followed at Shafter Memorial Park. Serving as casket bearers were Oscar Cortez, Gabriel Rocha, David Cortez, Anthony Carrasco, Edward Arismendez. Richard Angel Carrasco, and Vincent Rocha. Magdalena was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jesus and Delfina Guillen. She came to the United States in 1960, living in the Shafter and Wasco area. She married Miguel Carrasco on October 1, 1974, in Shafter, Ca. She loved working her flowers in her garden and cooking, Chile Colorado was her specialty. Magdalena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Miguel in 1985; and son, Polo Escalante. She is survived by her sons, Alonso Carrasco and Miguel Carrasco both of Wasco, Clemente Escalante and Javier Escalante of Tornillo, Texas and Raul Escalante of Phoenix, Arizona; daughters, Leticia and husband, Jesus Aragon of Wasco, Antonia and husband, Edward Arismendez of Shafter, Nena and husband, George of El Paso, Texas and Elvira Escalante of Tornillo, Texas; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren
