Obituary

Lynn Long Waggener died unexpectedly on June 13, 2013 in Fresno, due to heart failure. Lynn was born in Wasco, California at the Wasco Maternity Home to the late Doris and William Long of Shafter. Lynn is survived by her husband Karl Waggener of Fresno, a sister Shirley (Long) Farmer of Bakersfield, a brother Robert Long near California Hot Springs, 9 nieces and nephews including Kristin Ferrari and Kara Schulte of Bakersfield, and 7 grand nieces and nephews. Lynn attended Shafter grade school and Shafter high school and then attended Bakersfield JC, Fresno State, Tabor College and finished her degree in education and Bible at Tennessee Temple University near Chattanooga, TN. Lynn loved junior high students and taught PE and Algebra for over 20 years, at Santa Rosa, CA Rincon Valley Christian, and Fresno Christian School, as well previously in Florida. She also coached girls Volley Ball and Softball at the junior high and high school level. She coached the Florida high school team in 2 playoff seasons, twice making second place and missed first place by the "bad hop of a ball." She was currently working as an office tech for the California Department of Fish and Game, where her positive attitude, proof reading and math skills were highly valued by her co-workers. Lynn was a prolific crafter, with special skills in sewing, general arts and crafts, etc. Many friends and family were blessed to receive the items made especially for them. She was an avid reader, and her favorite place to read was sitting in a comfortable chair on the beach. Her second choice was the mountains by a lake, while her husband fished. Lynn was raised in the MB Church of Shafter, and has been sharing her faith and serving others since her youth. She and Karl have been attending Butler Church in Fresno since the mid-90's. She was happiest serving in many ways at the church, especially as a wedding coordinator and most notably during the annual MCC fundraiser event. Lynn formed life-long relationships and her friends and family were always in her thoughts and prayers. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Butler Church Thailand Missions Aid 4884 E.
