Obituary

Lyn Boyd Allen, Jr. was born May 4, 1926 in Formosa, Arkansas to Myrtle May (Holloway) and Lyn Boyd Allen, Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings; wife Vivian Jewell (Andrews) Allen and second wife Mable (Carpenter) Allen; daughter, Barbara Johnson; son, Jerry Allen; grandsons, Michael Allen and Daniel Allen; great-grandsons, Jonathan and Gabriel Allen. He is survived by son-in-law, Chester Johnson, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Connie (Taylor) Allen; daughter, Donna and husband Clifford Warden; grandchildren, Barbara and husband David Preston, Melvin Johnson and wife Lisa, Chester Johnson Jr. and wife Michele, David Allen and wife Becki, Rebecca and husband Michael Andrews, Jennifer and husband David Payne; great-grandchildren, Ashley Preston, Christopher Preston, Lindsey and husband Anthony Rizzo, Meghan Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Paige Johnson, Madelyn Johnson, Alexander Johnson, Aaden Johnson, Isaac Johnson, Jordana Johnson, Nicole Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Taylor Allen, Krysten Allen, David Allen Jr., Victoria Allen, Jessica Andrews, Joshua Andrews and Kassaundra Payne; great great-grandchild, Ethan Rizzo; and his faithful Boston Terrier, "Little Buddy". Lyn served as a Marine during World War II. He and his wife Vivian moved their young family from Arkansas to Wasco in 1954. Lyn worked several years as a welder and was employed at Wilkinson & Son and then for A.C. Poettgen & Son. Lynn moved to Bakersfield in 1995 with his second wife, Mable. After Mable's death in 2003 he moved into his daughter Donna's home, where she and her husband cared for him. Lyn went to be with Jesus on April 15, 2012 at home, surrounded by family. He had a very peaceful passing. He will be deeply missed. He was a good and faithful servant, a loving and kind man. The manner in which he lived his life was a great example for us all. And even in his last days he taught us all so much about life. The family would like to sincerely thank his doctors and the staff, technicians and especially the nurses at San Joaquin Hospital, Life House, Hall Ambulance, Optimal Hospice Care and the kind words of comfort and prayers given by Tim Grays. A graveside service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Wasco was held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 2pm at Wasco Memorial Park. Serving as casket bearers were, Melvin Johnson, Chester Johnson, Jr., Michael Andrews, Joshua Andrews, David Preston and David Payne and honorary bearer, Christopher Preston. Pastor Mike Kotrla of the Shafter Congregational Church officiated the service and interment followed.
