Lydia Marie Samarripas was born June 17, 1956 in Alabama to Simon and Elvira Samarripas. The family moved to Shafter and she attended Shafter High School. She worked in the cafeteria at Shafter High School as an assistant for the last 3 years and before that worked in the roses for 10 years. Lydia loved Spanish music and was a member of St. Therese's Catholic Church. she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Lydia is survived by her two sons, Adrian and Gabriel Nazaroff, both of Shafter; brothers, Ramon, Ricardo and Reynaldo Samarripas; sisters, Nelia Chairez, Melissa Castillo, Elizabeth Gomez and Rachel Ornales; 5 grandchildren, Priscilla, Jessica, Adrian Jr., Destiney and Isaac. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Simon; and her son, Morris. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, June 11 at 6pm at St. Therese's Church for Lydia Marie Samarripas, age 52, of Shafter who passed away June 7, 2009 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 12 at 10am at St. Therese's Church. Fr. Pedro Umana will officiate the service and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11 from 2pm until 6pm at Peters Funeral Home.
