Obituary

With family gathered by his side, Rev. LV Lawson went home to be with his Lord and Savior. LV was born in Yale, OK, but most of his early years were spent in Orosi, CA. He was a graduate of Orosi High where he met "Chris" the love of his life. At the age of 19, LV and Christene began their pastoral journey at a Pentecostal Church of God in Cutler, CA. This journey would lead them to pastor churches in California, Oregon, and New Mexico, as well as evangelize in numerous states. LV owned Lawson Construction where he was a general contractor, well known for his beautiful stonework. Examples of his talent can be seen at many churches throughout California, including those he built. Of all his ministerial accomplishments, he was most proud of his mission trips to South America where he helped build schools and churches in impoverished communities. His greatest passions were ministering, spreading God's word, fishing, and teasing grandkids. LV will be missed by family and friends for his unconditional love, generosity, mischievous sense of humor, and unwavering love of God. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Van and Fleeta (Tomberlin), one brother and two sisters. LV is survived by his wife Christene, daughters Elaine Bush (husband Kent) and Terry Wright all of Bakersfield, son Randy Lawson (wife Frances) of Tualatin, OR, brother Arnold, sister Jewel Dodson, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday December 31st at 10 a.m. at Jesus Saves International Church. Interment immediately following at Shafter Cemetery.
