Obituary

Luis Angel Martinez was born on January 5, 1953 to Jose and Petra Martinez in Elsa, Texas. He was the 3rd child born in the family. The family moved to California and Luis attended Hart High School in Valencia where he had many great memories. He eventually moved to Kern County and met the most beautiful woman in the world, Patricia Snyder. They married in 1976. Luis was a farmer. He absolutely loved the farm. He worked for Palla Farms for many years and was very blessed to have such a wonderful boss, Ed. He always talked about the tractors he drove and how much he loved to pull "straight as an arrow" rows. He worked in farming for 40 years and retired from farming 12 years ago due to contracting Parkinson's disease. Luis was called home by the Good Lord on May 7, 2013. Not only did Luis have a great love for faming. He loved his family more. He had four children that he loved more than anything. He was the best father no matter if her worked 13 hours a day, he always had time to spend with his family and never complained once about it. Luis also loved baseball and enjoyed every Dodger game on T.V. and listening to Vin Scully on the radio when he was on the go. He would often tell stories of playing ball with his all-star dad and his four handsome brothers. He had a very special spot reserved in his heart for his three beautiful sisters. Of course most importantly he loved his mother deeply. She was his strength and taught him about faith. He wouldn't have been the man he was if it wasn't for his wonderful mother. He loved his family so very much. Luis has a big heart and cared about everyone he met. He loved that Lord more than anything. Always thanking Jesus for all he had. Luis was blessed with grandchildren he loved dearly. He often said he was a blessed man. He was a blessing to everyone he met and will be missed greatly. Luis was preceded in death by his father, Jose Martinez. He was survived by his mother Petra of Bakersfield, his son David and Gloria, daughter Angela and Denny, daughter Kimberly and Horacio and son Stephen; brothers Robert, Juan, Mario and Phillip; sisters Rosa, Yolanda all of Bakersfield; and sister Dora of Lancaster; five grandchildren Tim, Josh, Matthew, Lucas, and Jake and numerous special nieces and nephews. Service for Luis will be at the Shafter Memorial Park on Tuesday May 14, 2013 at 10am Graveside officiated by pastor Jim Glasco of the Seventh Standard Pentecostal Church of God. Luis was a great man and will always be remembered.
