Lucy Heredia Jara was born January 4, 1916 in Mexico to Pablo and Marcelina (Fazio) Heredia. She came to Kern County at the age of 15. Lucy married Pedro Jara on July 13, 1932. She raised eleven children while employed with various local farmers for 30 years. Her love was gardening, crocheting and baking pastries. She was loved by people; those she worked with, people she met and the gals at the convalescent hospital. She will be greatly missed She is survived by her sons, Pete and wife Lisa, David and Anna Diaz; daughters, Mary De Luna, Rosie Ward and Ruben DeLaRosa, Nina Richards, Delfina and husband Pancho Quevedo, Erma and husband Phillip Hart, numerous grandchildern, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband; Pedro, parents; Pablo and Marcelina, 4 children; Betty, Sunny, Sandy and Raymond; and grandson; Richard Velarde. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday May 22, 2008 at 6:00pm for Lucy Heredia Jara, age 92, of Shafter, who passed away May 17, 2008 at her residence. Father Pedro Umara of St. Theresa Church will officiate the interment at Shafter Memorial Park Friday May 23, 2008 at 1:00pm. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday May 22, 2008 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.
