Loving wife and mother, Lucy "Maurine" Gorsching was born in Alexander, Arkansas on August 21, 1925 to Mattie (Dodgen) and Housten Lloyd Green. Lucy was raised in Wasco and attended the local schools. She met the love of her life, from Shafter, Allen Levi Gorsching, and they were married in December of 1942. With all of the daily duties Lucy had as a homemaker, she found time to join the Shafter Woman's Club. She was an active member, holding various positions including president. She also represented the Shafter Women's Club as inspiration chair for Kern County and local prayer breakfast gatherings. Lucy always had a smile on her face and love in her heart, and was fiercely loyal to family and friends. She was a member of Valley Bible Church in Shafter. Lucy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Allen (Feb. 1990) and is survived by her sons Dennis and wife Felis of San Angelo, Tx, and Martin and wife Ervonne of Taft, CA; brother Albert LeQuieu; sister, Ida Watts; numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lucy loved her large, extended family, especially the "little ones." Graveside services will be officiated by Pastor Mike Kotrla of Valley Bible for Lucy "Maurine" Gorsching, age 83, on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 – 11 am at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Peters Funeral Home Chapel from 2-5.
