June 15, 1924 – October 25, 2006
A graveside service was held for Lucille Iva Fields-Lape, age 82, on Monday, October 30, 2006, at 11am, at North Kern Cemetery District, California. Pastor Danny Scott of the Free Will Baptist Church officiated the service. Lucille was born in Lone Grove, Oklahoma, to Marvin and Ethel Nelson. She came to California at a young age and to Wasco in 1964. She was a former member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Wasco. She loved growing roses. Lucille had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary in her early life. Lucille realized at a early age how important an education would be in life; she always, encourage, prodded and pushed if need be her children and grandchildren to complete their education and get through school. She also was active with her son, Kenny in Boy Scouts of America; and with the daughters in 4-H Club, and she felt it was in good influence. She was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Jay Fields and Ray Lape; 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 3 grandchildren, and 1 son-in-law. She is survived by her son Kenny and wife, Dorothy Fields; daughters, Jeannie and husband, Jerry Kleinknight, Gail Jolley. Darlene Fields all of Bakersfield, Sharon and husband, Stan French of Kingman, AZ; brothers, Lindell Nelson of Tulare and Dorce Nelson of Westfork, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
