Lorenzo Monarrez was born September 15, 1926 in Presidios, Durango, Mexico to Sergia (Bustamante) and Lebrado Monarrez. He was raised in Mexico. He married Vita Burciaga in 1956 in Buenos Aiares, Durango, Mexico. He was a farm laborer with various local agriculture farmers, but spent most of his working career with C.J. Richie Farms. He enjoyed going to nearby casinos and had a green thumb in his garden where his specialty was chilie plants. Being surrounded with family was what brought a smile to his face. Lorenzo was preceded in death by his wife, Vita, who passed away in 2000; his parents Sergia and Librado Monarrez. He is survived by his 6 children, Maria De Jesus Lara and husband Victor, Rosa Fierro and husband Concepcion, Marcela Moreno and husband Rafael, Librado Monarrez and wife Emilia, Jose Merced Monarrez ands wife Olga and Victoria Monarrez; brothers, Alejandro Monarrez of Texas and Delfino Monarrez of Durango; sisters, Lucina Monarrez of Wasco, Gumecinda, Josefina and Agustina Monarrez all of Durango; 21 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held for Lorenzo Monarrez , age 82, of Wasco on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, will be celebrated Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 10am. Father John Fluetach of St. Johns Catholic Church will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco.
